MAP Walk to Benefit Pacem in Terris & Others

 Please participate in the Methodist Action Program (MAP) Walk For Our Children 2008 on Saturday, September 13, at the Riverfront and help raise funds for Pacem in Terris!  The annual MAP walk which is devoted to helping the community is lifting up the need to help our children in Wilmington get the education, health care, nonviolence training, and social services they require in order to become healthy, courageous, hopeful, and confident adults.  Registration on the day of the walk begins at 8:00 a.m. and step-off for the Walk starts at 9 a.m.  This year, once again, the proceeds from the walk will benefit: the Methodist Action Program (MAP), the Latin American Community Center (LCC), the Delaware Coalition Against Domestic Violence (DCADV), and Pacem in Terris.  We will devote the funds we raise to our Creating the Peaceable Classroom and Pacem in Vita programs that teach nonviolent conflict resolution to children and young people, so please be as supportive as you can.  Last year Pacem in Terris received over $2,900 from the proceeds of the walk.  With your help and an increased number of Pacem walkers, we can raise even more this year!!

The 5k walk begins at the Wilmington Riverfront at Dravo Plaza which is right beside the Shipyard Shops.  The walking path will be in the immediate Riverfront area; just go to the starting point at Dravo Plaza and follow the marked 5k route.  The walk course will form a loop with the finish line back at Dravo Plaza.  There is plenty of free parking in that area of the Riverfront. 

You can register for the MAP Walk For Our Children 2008 on line by going to http://map-de.org or by calling Sandie Herensperger, the Administrative Program Coordinator at MAP, at 302-225-5627.  While there is no set registration fee,   walkers/contributors are asked to give donations of $5 or more.  The other levels of sponsorship are:

Gold Sponsors - $1,000 or more

Silver

Bronze Sponsors - $100 - $499
